ISTE Assessment 2005: Discovering SolutionsFormerly the Assessment Forum, ISTE Assessment 2005: Discovering Solutions took place at NECC in Philadelphia. The agenda included roundtable discussions, an address by a field leader, and a Galley Walk of assessment tools, followed by an interactive panel discussion by ISTE book authors. Technology can help you assess how well your students are learning. To find out how, attendees joined a Gallery Walk of more than 15 premier assessment tools. There, they learned the importance of formative assessment in meeting Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and how technology can help assess learning for K–12 students, practicing teachers, and teacher candidates. Attendees watched demonstrations, tried assessment instruments, and gained insight from educators who use new tools in the field to resolve their assessment challenges. After the Gallery Walk and a break for refreshments, participants joined ISTE leaders for an expert panel discussion with our talented book authors and ISTE's CEO, Don Knezek. They took a "first look" at one of ISTE's newest publications, NETS for Students: Resources for Student Assessment, which will be available in mid-October. The discussion provided information on various classroom and district-level resources for assessment, including rubrics, and success stories about innovative projects and programs in various states.
