The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), education game-maker Tabula Digita, and the Monsanto Education Fund partnered last year to develop an interactive science game for grades three through five. Called the "League of Scientists," the game was soft-launched with game maker Tabula Digita's at ISTE's 30th annual National Educational Computing Conference (NECC) on July 1.

ISTE International Committee member Julie Lindsay and the Qatar Academy hosted the first Flat Classroom Conference January 24-29, 2009 in Doha, Qatar. ISTE CEO Don Knezek spoke at the event, which included face-to-face and online participation from around the world, as well as an online discussion with Thomas Friedman, author of The World Is Flat. ISTE is now accepting nominations for the Outstanding Teacher and Leader Awards and the Sylvia Charp Award for innovative school districts. Nominations for the Teacher and Leader Awards must come from an ISTE affiliate organization; any individual member can nominate a school district for the Sylvia Charp Award.
