ISTE Governance

ISTE is governed by a Board of Directors, consisting of outstanding educational leaders elected by the members, and guided by a Strategic Plan. The 2007–2008 Board of Directors consists of President Trina Davis, Past President Kurt Steinhaus, and 15 additional national and international representatives. Board elections are held online each spring in compliance with the ISTE Bylaws, and all ISTE members are welcome to run for open Board positions.

ISTE’s Strategic Plan was adopted by the Board at its September 2004 meeting after considerable study, revision, and input from members and staff.  View the Strategic Plan to learn more about ISTE’s mission, vision, values, and goals.

As an ISTE volunteer, Dr. Steinhaus helped organize two Tel Ed Conferences, served as an advisory member for CARET (Center for Applied Research in Educational Technology), worked with CoSN and ISTE on national policy issues, served as a member of the NECC planning committee, helped design the ISTE Student Forum, and was elected and re-elected as Treasurer on the ISTE Board of Directors.

Kurt has served as education policy advisor for Governor Bill Richardson and subsequently was asked to serve as Deputy Cabinet Secretary of Education where they recently launched a statewide one-on-one computing initiative beginning with 7th grade students.
