Conference Connections

Everything you need to know about conferences and more! Okay, maybe not everything, but hopefully some helpful hints, plus a list of upcoming Affiliate conferences. Your input here is vital!

ETAN at Your Conference

ETANETAN is the Ed Tech Action Network in the USA. Its mission is to influence public policy makers at the federal, state, and local levels and to increase public investment in the competitiveness of America's classrooms and students. “ETAN in a Box” provides ways to have an interactive tool at your conference to allow attendees to send a letter to their U.S. congressmen and women with a click of a button. Many Affiliates have already added this to their conferences, but if you haven’t yet, please read on.

Here’s how it works: 1) Talk to Hilary Goldmann and she’ll provide buttons for your Web site, update the front page of the ETAN site with people from your Affiliate, provide signs, and train your volunteers through an interactive web-based training session. 2) Set aside a booth at your conference. 3) Arrange for volunteers to staff the booth. 4) Get a few computers with internet access set up in the booth. 5) Get creative and publicize it with giveaways, buttons, announcements, or whatever works.

On the Affiliate wiki, you’ll find plenty of resources, including a flyer about ETAN, how to effectively host an ETAN booth, and helpful hints from ASTE .

Conference Resources

Want more resources and ideas? Visit our wiki where you’ll find notes from our discussions from last year’s annual meeting, as well as plenty of suggestions contributed on a regular basis to the wiki – sponsorships, marketing, exhibitors, speakers, just to name a few. And while you’re checking it out, be sure to add some ideas of your own. Thanks. http://affiliates.iste.wikispaces.net/Conferences
