Trina Davis—At-Large
Representative
Trina Davis is the Director of eEducation in the College of Education
at Texas A&M University. She provides leadership on several
eEducation initiatives including programs funded by the U.S. Department
of Education (R*TEC, PT3 and Transition to Teach), the
Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund Board, the Houston Endowment and
the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). In these roles
she has designed comprehensive, web-based instructional solutions and
worked with hundreds of school districts, preservice teachers and higher
education faculty members to provide on-site and on-line professional
development. Recently, the eEducation Group, in collaboration with
Baylor College of Medicine, launched an online accelerated certification
program for secondary science teachers. Trina designed the eEmpowerment
Zone, an e-learning system which is the primary delivery system for the
program.
Trina has served on a host of expert panels and committees at the
state and national level. Recently, she served on the 2001 International
Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Minority Leadership Symposium
Planning Committee, and was the Co-Chair for the 2002 ISTE Minority
Leadership Symposium. Trina Davis currently holds an appointment as
Co-Chair of the Texas Education Agency, Educational Technology Advisory
Committee (ETAC). In 2002-03, the ETAC developed the Texas STaR Chart
for all public school campuses and made major contributions to the
Update of the Long Range Plan for Technology for the State of Texas.
Her professional experiences include 13 years in public education,
which include teaching middle school and college level mathematics in
both urban and rural settings. Davis also served as a nationally
recognized Technology Coordinator in the Waller Independent School
District in Texas. She has also served as a consultant to numerous
school districts, research institutions, and state departments of
education. Her recent research interests are in web-based instruction
for diverse learners, e-learning environments, and statewide educational
technology profile studies, which continue to inform key
decision-makers.
