Joyce Pittman—At-Large
Representative
Dr. Joyce Pittman is a professor in the Department of Curriculum and
Instructional Technology at the University of Cincinnati. She obtained
her B.S. degree in Business Education from Southern Illinois University
and Chicago State University, a Masters Degree from Chicago State
University in Occupational and Career Education, and her Ph.D. in
Education with an emphasis in Instructional Technology from Iowa State
University of Science and Technology. She began her career in secondary
education teaching in the city of Chicago and suburbs. From teaching in
the public schools, she began to pursue a career in the corporate and
higher education community.
Dr. Pittman is the recipient of the College and University Research
Scholarly Award for her research contributing to the field of Ed Media.
She is an active member/co-founder of the National Digital Equity Task
Force, which is supported by the U.S. Department of Education, a Member
of the National Commission on the Future of Teacher Education and
Technology (Association of Teacher Educators).
Personal Statement
Education is a lifelong journey. I plan to continue my travel for many
more years contributing my knowledge, skills, abilities to expand equal
learning opportunities for all people around the world.
My vision is that ISTE will continue to support policies and
practices for developing new initiatives that call attention to the
value of teachers and students learning higher order applications in the
use of technology.
