Rick Martinez—School District Administrator Representative
Rick Martinez has been an educational technology leader in the State of Texas for over seventeen years. His contributions to educational technology are evident through his participation in national, state and local organizations dedicated to the advancement of student learning through the use of technology. His innovative and aggressive approach to the infusion of technology in the classroom has been highlighted in national publications such as EdTech magazine.
Rick has served as a classroom teacher for 8 years and in a technology leadership role for over 17 years. Currently, he is the Chief Technology Office for the Southwest Independent School District in San Antonio, Texas. He manages several departments including Instructional Technology, Technical Services, Library Services, PEIMS (Student Information), and Textbooks.
At the state level, Rick served on the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) Board from 1992-2000, serving as an Area Director, Secretary, Vice President, President and Past President. He also served on the Texas Center for Educational Technology Board from 1998-1999. In 1994, he was named as one of six delegates selected to represent Texas at the Secretary’s Conference on Educational Technology.
In 2001, he was selected as the Technology Coordinator of the Year by the Texas Computer Education Association. His contributions to educational technology are evident not only through awards and recognitions, but also through his contributions as a leader in Texas school districts reshaping teaching and learning in the classroom.
