Helen Padgett—Affiliate
Representative
Dr. Helen Padgett served as Program Chair for NECC 1991 in Phoenix,
Arizona. When the Arizona Technology in Education Alliance (AzTEA)
became an ISTE OA in 1998 at NECC in San Diego, Helen was a member of
the application committee and has continued to serve as the AzTEA
representative to ISTE. Helen participated as a member of the writing
team for the ISTE publication, NETS•T Resources for
Assessment. She has presented research papers at NECC annually
since 1996 and has been a presenter at the ISTE NECC preconference Forum
on Assessment and Technology since 2002. As Project Manager for two
Arizona State University PT3 grants, Helen facilitated the
development of a National Educational Technology Standards Digital Video
Library (NETSDVL) and the development and implementation of an
Integration of Technology Observation Instrument (ITOI).
During Helen’s twenty-year career as a K–12 teacher and
administrator, she developed a passion for educational uses of
technology to improve student achievement and designing and conducting
professional development for teachers, administrators, and university
faculty members. As a faculty member at Arizona State University, Helen
presents and models standards-based technology integration lessons to
preservice and inservice teachers in her courses. Helen serves as the
ISTE Representative on the Arizona Superintendent of Public
Instruction's Blue Ribbon Task Force on Technology.
