Carla Wade, State Technology Director Representative
Carla is currently the Technology Education
Specialist and Title I Lead at the Oregon Department of Education
(ODE). During the past seven years at ODE
Carla has coordinated the development of Oregon’s Instructional
Technology Framework (standards), the State Educational Technology Plan,
the Title IID grant program and assisted in writing the Continuous
Improvement Planning Guidance for districts. She has established model
programs including the Oregon Ed Tech Professional Development
Cadre. She has presented at the National Title I Conference and at
National Title I Directors’ meetings about the connection between
technology and school improvement.
Carla has worked in both informal and formal education with local,
state and federal agencies and non-profit organizations. Whether
it was outdoor education, the classroom or the science museum,
technology tools have been a part of her instruction and the learning
opportunities provided for students of all ages. This experience
has proved to be beneficial in communicating the need for technology
integration in teaching and learning to a variety of audiences across
the country.
As a member of the State Educational Technology Directors Association
(SETDA) Board, she has chaired the National Educational Technology Plan
Committee and served as liaison to the SETDA State and Federal Policy
Committee. Carla is a recipient of the ISTE “Making It
Happen” award and a George Lucas Educational Foundation Faculty
Associate. She serves on the Advisory Board for the Florida
Digital Educator Program. In the spring of 2007, she was elected
to the ISTE Board of Directors as the State Educational Technology
Director representative.
