What Is SIGAdmin?
SIGAdmin provides a support network to school administrators and others in leadership positions who are working to promote the use of instructional technologies to enhance student learning. Our assumption is that administrative support is critical in planning, implementing, and evaluating technology-infused instructional programs.
Who Are Our Members?
SIGAdmin members include education administrators at all levels, technology coordinators, professional development providers, faculty in institutions of higher education, teacher leaders, and other professionals interested in the role administrators play in successful instructional technology implementation in schools.
What Do We Do?
As a new SIG, we are still defining activities, however, the following are already in place:
- E-mail list for members to share information, ideas, and for networking
- Sponsor workshops and sessions at NECC
- Sponsor online events
- Work to support implementation of NETS•A Standards for Administrators
- Serve as the school administrator’s liaison to ISTE
SIGAdmin at NECC 2008 in San Antonio
Those of us who have the opportunity to attend NECC will be able to meet face-to-face and share ideas and information. Our SIGAdmin meeting will take place on Tuesday, July 1, from 4:45pm-6:15pm (HGCC 101 B). Make sure you attend in order to provide input on the information and resources you would like to have in the upcoming year.
If you are unable to attend NECC, never fear! Your input is important and may be provided through the use of the SIGAdmin Wiki, or through direct email to any of the SIGAdmin officers. We look forward to providing collaborative learning activities that address topics of interest for our members.
Through your active involvement we will be able to identify our needs and head into next year with a plan that supports those needs.
