Technology Coordinators SIG

ISTE's Special Interest Group for Technology Coordinators is a professional organization that helps technology coordinators meet the challenges of their rapidly changing field. SIGTC addresses current legislation and advancements in technology leadership. An active online forum provides a collegial venue to help identify problems and solutions and to share information on issues facing technology coordinators today. SIGTC provides professional development opportunities for technology leaders through a range of activities, including a forum at NECC to explore issues in the dynamic field of technology leadership.

SIGTC members include technology coordinators and directors at all levels, administrators, information technology specialists, technology coaches and mentors, and professional development and curriculum specialists who work to support and enhance student learning through the use of technology. Members are concerned with issues around technology leadership to support and enhance a more effective teaching and learning environment in K–12 classrooms.

Membership in SIGTC provides access to information, resources, and colleagues who deal with technology leadership at a variety of levels around the world. Specifically, SIGTC:

  • collects and disseminates information through its electronic communication networks
  • sponsors presentations, meetings, conference sessions, and workshops to promote professional development opportunities for its members
  • works to support national standards for K–12 students, teachers, and administrators
  • recommends policy and guides decision making regarding instructional technology
  • organizes activities to meet the needs of its membership
  • provides a collegial forum for sharing successes, raising questions, and meeting challenges in the rapidly changing field of instructional technology
  • represents technology coordinators in ISTE activities and with other ISTE Special Interest Groups
  • creates opportunities for leadership and professional development for technology coordinators
