Message from the SIGTel President

Greetings!

If you're looking to join an ISTE Special Interest Group where you can share your vision and goals on online learning with friends around the world, participate in telecollaborative projects, view best practices in instructional technology, solve problems and have fun, then SIGTel is the group for you!  We believe that students develop 21st century skills through online learning projects as they collaborate, problem-solve, and communicate with each other in building their learning communities.

We are very proud of our accomplishments and welcome new members to join us as we explore ways that technology can enhance teaching and learning. Although we only see each other in person at ISTE's annual conference (NECC), virtual communication is now easier through ISTE's new online e-Communities via My Communities on ISTE's Web site.  In our SIGTel community, we will all be able to share ideas, plan events, share documents, and solve problems.

During the 2007-2008 year SIGTel will continue to:

  • Publish our online publication, SIGTel Bulletin
  • Host the SIGTel Online Learning Awards Contest
  • Share project ideas through wiki space of SIGTel (http://sigtel.iste.wikispaces.net)
  • Conduct workshops and poster sessions at major conferences
  • Meet at the National Educational Computing Conference (NECC)

Please think about joining and becoming an active member in SIGTel.  Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Dr. Manorama (Mano) Talaiver  (mano@ittip.us)
SIGTel President
