SIG News: September 2006

Image

Welcome to SIG News, the quarterly newsletter for ISTE’s Special Interest Group Program. I’m pleased to introduce this second issue of the newsletter, which was established to acquaint you with the mission of the SIG Program and the activities we undertake to fullfill it.

We’ve had a busy summer, beginning with ISTE’s annual conference in San Diego in July, and continuing through the Fall, as we make plans to launch our member webinar series, and introduce our newly renamed and refocused SIG for the Computing Teacher (formerly SIGCS, computer science).

In this issue, learn about getting started with interactive video conferencing (IVC), and how to get involved with our new SIG for IVC. Take a broader look at assistive technologies and how they can be used for a wide range of students. Learn more about getting started with podcasting, and make your voice heard with our member poll.

I hope you will take the time to read about the activities of your peers and will consider getting involved as a volunteer, NECC presenter, or contributor to the community forums. The SIG Program is as strong as the community of members who support it, and we value the many contributions of our diverse membership.

Best regards,
Jennifer Ragan-Fore
Director, ISTE Special Interest Group Program
