SIG News: JUNE 2007

Welcome to SIG News, the quarterly newsletter for ISTE’s Special Interest Group Program. I’m pleased to introduce this special NECC supplementary issue.
The time right before NECC is a particularly busy time of year for the SIG Program, as we gear up for the many SIG activities at NECC, which include annual meetings, sponsored sessions, workshops, and forums, playgrounds, and summits. (It's a wonder our SIG leaders ever have time to sleep!) It's the time of the year when we welcome new officers into the group, and the only time of the year when SIG leaders are together in person to collaborate with each other and meet with groups of their members face to face.
Whether you'll be at NECC or not, your SIG president or chair would love to hear from you about your ideas for your SIG—what events or programs would you find valuable in the coming year? How would you like to be involved? Summer is typically the time of the year when each SIG makes its plans, both for next year's NECC, and for projects that will be undertaken over the next year, so make your voice heard.
In this issue, meet new SIG officers by reading a little more about them in their profiles, select your "can't miss" NECC events by reviewing your SIG's recommended sessions, and learn more about the goals of each SIG's forum.
As part of this issue, I'm also pleased to announce the launch of our new SIG on 1-to-1 computing. If you'll be attending NECC, consider participating in the SIG1to1 business meeting to learn more and meet fellow members interested in this important topic. SIG1to1 is now accepting members—to add this SIG or switch your current selection, just call ISTE Member Services.
I hope you will take the time to read about the activities of your peers and will consider getting involved as a volunteer, NECC presenter, or contributor to the SIG discussion lists. If you'll be at NECC, we hope to meet you in person in a few short days!
Best regards,
