An explosion of new devices called “ultramobiles” have emerged in the education market. This webinar provided a comparison of the features of different ultramobiles, discusses implementation efforts and explores these tools as alternatives to laptops.

Disrupting Class: Book Study & Webinar
Starting in January, SIGAdmin has discussed the book Disrupting Class: How Disruptive Innovation Will Change the Way the World Learns by Clayton Chritiansen. Each week discussion questions have been posted on the SIGAdmin wiki. The culminating activity of this book discussion will be a webinar on Thursday February 26, 2009 with co-author Michael Horn.

Among the featured panelists for the second episode of ISTE Eduverse Talks, ISTE's new broadcast series in Second Life, was Lisa Perez, SIGMS Chair-Elect. This episode addressed the growth of library/media learning networks and communities of practice powered by Web 2.0 tools and Second Life.

2009 ISTE SIG Media Specialist Technology Innovation Award
This annual award sponsored by Linworth Publishing, Inc. and Follett Software Company will be presented to three teams of a school librarian and collaborating teacher who have conducted an exemplary technology program extending beyond the library to meet the needs of classroom students and teachers. The purpose of this award is to identify, promote, and sustain excellence in collaborative and innovative technology-based projects driven by the school library media center in support of curricular and instructional needs in elementary, middle, and high schools.
