 Kara Gann
Cheyenne, Wyoming
Kara Gann comes from a family of educators which made it a natural choice for her to join the profession herself. Currently she is the Information Technology Program Administrator for Laramie County School District #1 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. When asked what she likes best about her current position, Kara replied, "I love being able to impact instruction at a district level and see the positive impact on learning." Kara’s passion, enthusiasm, and human connection have improved the districts technology programs since her arrival in 2003. She is delighted how fast her district embraced the roll out of SMART Boards in the classrooms and very proud of being able to be the member of the design team for the 21st Century Classroom.
Kara was recently elected to serve as a volunteer on the ISTE Board of Directors to fill the position of School District Administration Representative. Before joining the ISTE Board, Kara could be found volunteering in many different roles at the local, state, regional and national level including the NECC 2008 review team, working at ISTE’s ETAN booth, and working with national officials on NCLB revisions. She finds volunteering for ISTE not only a chance to meet outstanding individuals who are part of ISTE, but has grown tremendously herself by not only hearing what they are doing in their areas, but finding a way to personalize the experience within her current role. She also states that, "Being a volunteer at ISTE makes a difference to educators around the world."
In her free time she spends time with her family and friends and enjoys watching movies and listening to live music.
