Description
In partnership with Topics Education, Microsoft is sponsoring an education initiative that supports teachers' needs for addressing digital citizenship and helping students understand how to handle and share digital content and respect for an authors/students intentions for sharing creative work. Topics Education developed a comprehensive turnkey, end-to-end curriculum that provides educators with teaching resources, an experiential student curriculum and tools to teach students about creative rights so that it is meaningful and relevant to their lives and achieving their potential. The content is well balanced in addressing a broad range of types of digitally delivered IP that students interact with on a daily basis. The curriculum meets national standards; supports classroom based assessments and aligns with 10 cross-curricular disciplines. It was field tested in the US in the spring of 2008 and 93% of teachers participating said they would recommend it to other educators. Microsoft is making this curriculum available to teachers and schools for FREE. It will be rolled out in the U.S and made available worldwide. The goal is long-term program adoption.
