Description

The Intel(R) Teach Essentials is the latest in the Intel suite of professional development curriculum. A previous version of the curriculum Essentials 3.4; 4.4 and 5.4 has received the ISTE Seal of Alignment. The new curriculum is an extensive rewrite based on evaluations of thousands of teachers by EDC. The new curriculum can be delivered either FTF (32 hours of training) or in an online-hybrid (14 hours FTF; 24 hours facilitated online training over a 6-week period) Since its founding in 1968, Intel has been committed to improving education to prepare students around the world to thrive in the global knowledge economy. Intel’s education efforts focus on improving teaching and learning through the effective use of technology, and advancing math, science and engineering education and research. In addition, Intel works with education leaders worldwide to showcase technology solutions which support the creation of 21st century skills such as digital literacy, problem solving, critical thinking and collaboration. The Intel® Teach program is a proven, worldwide professional development program that helps educators to improve the effective use of technology in the classroom to promote 21st century learning. The program delivers a range of offerings which includes both in person and online instruction and incorporates applicable and engaging online tools and resources. Intel Teach is the most successful educator professional development program of its kind. With over 3 million teachers trained in 35 countries, the program has been driving systemic change in teaching and learning since 1999.

The goal of the Intel® Teach Essentials Course is to help classroom teachers develop student-centered learning through technology integration and project-based approaches. The training consists of 32 hours of hands-on instruction to be delivered via eight curricular modules. Through those modules, teachers develop a standards-based curricular unit that promotes 21st century skills, specifically encouraging student self-direction and higher-order thinking through problem-solving, collaboration, and the use of productivity strategies and tools. In Intel Teach Essentials Course, teachers learn to use the power of computer technology to spark student imagination and ultimately move students toward greater learning. Teachers reflect on questions about how their students can best use computers to enhance learning. Throughout the course and specifically in the showcase, teachers work to answer the Essential Question of the course: How can technology be used most effectively to support and assess student learning?
