Description
The Intel® Teach Program Thinking with Technology Course enhances effective technology integration skills in support of 21st century teaching and learning.
Building on intermediate technology integration skills (Intel Teach Program Essentials Course or equivalent), the 24 to 40-hour Thinking with Technology course prepares teachers to engage students in higher-order thinking. Teachers learn to use free online tools - through face-to-face, hands-on experiences - that are designed to engage students and help them to communicate their understanding of complex concepts.
Through this course, teachers will:
- Examine a framework for thinking skills and identify those that are most relevant to curricular goals
- Learn instructional strategies for addressing and assessing thinking skills using technology
- Develop student–centered assessments
- Support deeper understanding of core content
- Use online tools for visual representation of student thinking
- Leave with ready–to–use online projects that engage students and support higher–order thinking
- Create a unit plan using online projects that are aligned to state and national standards and support project–based learning and authentic inquiry
The following free online thinking tools, used in the course, are currently available at http://www.intel.com/teachers:
- Visual Ranking: For prioritizing and comparing lists
- Seeing Reason: For investigating cause-and-effect relationships
- Showing Evidence: For building well-structured arguments
Thinking with Technology is part of a suite of offerings developed by the Intel Teach Program. The foundation of the program is the development of 21st century skills critical to the effective integration of technology in schools and essential for student success; skills such as digital literacy, critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration.
