Description
The Johns Hopkins University (JHU) Center for Technology in Education (CTE) developed an 18-credit Graduate Certificate in School Administration and Supervision focusing on instructional technology to national and international audiences. This initiative is designed to prepare aspiring administrators and supervisors with effective strategies and tools to deal with issues regarding instructional technology while ensuring that all students, including students with diverse learning needs, succeed.
The Certificate is offered through the JHU Teacher Development and Leadership Program, includes a focus on instructional technology, and is offered in a Web-based format that builds on CTE's research-based approach to online learning. Each year, the certificate launches with an online kickoff in June, which includes a face-to-face meeting at ISTE's National Educational Computing Conference (NECC). It continues for approximately one year, culminating with an internship and a second face-to-face meeting at NECC.
Upon successful completion of the year-long certificate program that combines five online courses offered in eight-week segments, a customized three-credit internship, and face-to-face work sessions, participants earn the 18-credit certificate from Johns Hopkins University and are prepared to meet the standards of the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC), Educational Leadership Constituents Council (ELCC), and ISTE's National Educational Technology Standards for Administrators (NETS•A).
