Description
EasyTech is an award-winning, Web-delivered K-8 technology literacy curriculum that supports teachers to easily and effectively integrate technology skills into their math, science, language arts and social studies instruction. Engaging and interactive, it provides students with the skills they need to be successful in 21st century careers and lives. EasyTech's self-paced interactive tutorials address critical technology tools and skills, including computer fundamentals, word processing, graphics, visual mapping, database skills, spreadsheets, graphing, email and instant messaging, presentation skills, Web browsing, multimedia, basic HTML, and communicating online in blogs, podcasts and community sites. The curriculum includes lessons, activities, practices, quizzes and discussion topics.
Aligned with ISTE's NETS• S 2007 as well as state technology and core curriculum standards, EasyTech is scoped and sequenced and available in both English and Spanish. Its lessons incorporate guided practice with immediate feedback, resulting in students gaining technology skills more effectively than merely following steps through a rote exercise. Because students learn these skills within problems that are relevant to them, they grasp how and why technology applies to real-world challenges.
EasyTech's design incorporates the most current cognitive research, integrating auditory, visual and interactive learning principals into each of its lessons. These include: "multiple levels of feedback at the moment of learning, "opportunities for students to model their new skills, "the use of digital coaches that support students and provide instruction, "giving students context for what they are learning, and thus, a clear understanding of how and when they would apply their knowledge and skills to solve problems," game-based learning that includes opportunities for students to build their problem-solving skills, and guided experiences in which students participate in the creation of products. EasyTech's powerful administrative tools allow teachers and administrators to get started quickly while still being able to customize assignments, individualize instruction and quickly access valuable reports on student progress, and at the district, school, class and individual level. Because it is Web-delivered, EasyTech is accessible anywhere, anytime there is Internet access, including in classrroms, computer labs, in extended-day programs and at home. Only minimal resources an Internet connection, a Web Browser and free Flash player are necessary.

The International Society for Technology in Education (www.iste.org) completed review of the Learning.com’s Easy Tech on November 7, 2008. ISTE determined that the program clearly supports implementation of the ISTE National Educational Technology Standards for Students (NETS•T 2007) in a specific, carefully reviewed and documented manner and prepares participants to substantially meet the following standards:
