ISTE members, help identify best practices in the classroom!

ISTE and HP are working to identify and highlight specific integration strategies and successful techniques for the use of technology to enhance learning and change the landscape of the traditional classroom environment. To that end, ISTE engaged schools that took part in the HP Technology for Teaching grant program from 2003 to 2008 in a competition to demonstrate best practices learned from receiving an HP grant.

The following three schools received the highest scores from ISTE mentors, and ISTE members were asked to cast their votes for their favorite project. The winning school receives a paid trip for one teacher to present their best practice project during a poster session at NECC 2009 in Washington, DC, June 28–July 1.

We are proud to announce that Horizon Elementary School, from Kent School District in Kent, WA won with 46% of the vote. Congratulations to Janet Williams and the Project REEL team! Thank you to everyone who voted!

Be sure to visit the Horizon team at their poster session on Monday, June 29 at NECC 2009.

Although the contest has concluded, you are encouraged to view these finalist projects for inspiration. They are examples of exemplary technology integration strategies:
