Are budgetary cuts and high gas prices bringing an end to school field trips? Don’t despair. Virtual field trips (VFT) offer an inexpensive and educationally rewarding alternative. Join us to explore the world of traveling the globe (and the galaxy) virtually, an experience that enables students to make connections between themselves and the wide-ranging environments they can explore virtually.

Virtual field trips, appropriate at every grade level, range from simple photo tours to detailed, high-tech experiences that offer video and audio segments to make the visit more interactive. In some, students can pose questions to experts such as historians, scientists, politicians, astronauts, artists, and others. Virtual field trips can take students back in time, into outer space, into microscopic worlds, and often to places where the general public is excluded.

This Webinar will:
~take you on a number of virtual field trips
~suggest strategies for creating educationally sound VFTs
~provide evidence of how VFTs offer authentic, inquiry-based learning experiences to students
~provide links to a number of web-based tools where teachers AND STUDENTS can create their own VFTs
~provide rubrics for evaluating the educational effectiveness of VFTs
~provide an extensive resource guide with links to hundreds of existing VFTs created by other educators.

Join us on a Virtual Field Trip on how to use field tripping successfully in your classroom, school, or district.
