Special Programming at NECC

Follow the links below to learn more about ISTE’s special programs at NECC 2007 from our Professional Development Services.

Forums

  • Technology Leadership Forum: The Innovation Exchange ISTE unveiled the Emerging Technologies Matrix in our first Innovation Exchange for Technology Leaders! Participants had the opportunity to contribute ideas to the collection of emerging technology tools and strategies. Contributions became part of an accessible mega-database developed collaboratively with educators from around the globe which will provide information applicable to your specific technology needs!
  • NETS·T Refresh Forum.  Keeping NETS relevant in today's increasingly digital world! Educators were invited to share their experience and vision to refresh standards for teachers (NETS•T).

Summits

  • Digital Equity Summit 2007 ISTE's 2007 Digital Equity Summit convened community, state, and national leaders to discuss digital equity issues and challenges. During this summit, attendees gained awareness of critical dimensions of the digital divide, challenges they represent, and solutions for each of these challenges. Upon completion of the summit, participant left with resources and heightened awareness of digital equity. This "must-attend" session appealed to educators, state and national leaders, and those interested in working with underserved populations. Attendees received a copy of ISTE's Digital Equity Summit Report.

Symposia

  • Computer Science & Information Technology Symposium  This high profile event, hosted by CSTA and ISTE, is a professional development opportunity for computer science, computer application, and information technology teachers who need practical, relevant information to help them prepare their students for the future.
  • Leadership Symposium At this invitation-only event, education leaders flexed their creative muscles to develop strategies for moving toward a 20/20 vision of the future.

Concurrent and Spotlight Sessions

ISTE/Johns Hopkins University Collaborative Events

  • ISTE/JHU Gallery Walk for Cohort 1   NECC attendees were invited to view portfolios from the first ISTE-JHU Graduate Certificate in School Administration and Supervision graduating cohort. Graduating students presented a culmination of their work in this poster-like session.
  • ISTE/JHU Program Information Session We are looking for candidates for our NECC 2008 cohort in San Antonio. ISTE and Johns Hopkins University (JHU) School of Education will offer an 18-credit online graduate certificate in Administration and Supervision focusing on instructional technology to national and international audiences. This initiative is designed to prepare aspiring administrators and supervisors with effective strategies and tools to deal with issues regarding instructional technology while ensuring that all students, including students with diverse learning needs, succeed. Join us at one of two information sessions for more on the program goals, courses, and benefits.

Social Events

  • International Attendees' Reception This global gathering of education and technology leaders was a great opportunity for networking! Attendees were challenged to brainstorm ways to develop international collaborative opportunities.
