Abstract
This study examines the impact of training in the use of
Internet applications with graduate education
students.
Students were trained in the use of database sites
such
as CIESIN as well as the use of other math and
science resources.
Emphasis was given to the use of such resources in
the instructional
design process. Pre- and postintervention survey
comparisons
show that the training was effective in changing
participants'
skill using the Internet (t = 3.303) and
their skill
designing lessons and applications using the
Internet (t
= 5.108). Qualitative data indicates that these
teachers
view the Internet as a powerful educational
resource and
that they valued the hands-on opportunities
afforded during
this course.
