By Jason Ohler

These links will take you to the pages describing the hardware, software, and Web-based project featured in Jason’s article “The Promise of MIDI Technology.”

----------------------------------------

Note. The Web sites listed in this page were valid when this issue of  L&L went to press. We have no control over these sites, though, and the Web is very volatile. Please let us know if you find a broken link, and we’ll do our best to update it.

Hardware

Alesis equipment is effective and low-cost. Recommended in the article are Alesis’ entire line of speakers and the RA-100 amplifier.

Mackie Designs’ Mackie 1202 mixer fits the classroom teachers’ tight budget.

Software

Opcode’s Studio Vision Pro software for the Mac is used to create the MIDI notation in the article.

PC users recommend Cakewalk

Projects

Check out the World Band Project, in which students from all over the world collaborate to compose music using MIDI notation.
