Letters to the Editor

L&L welcomes your feedback. Send letters to Kate Conley, editor, kconley@iste.org.

---------------------------------

Dear Ms. Bowens:

I read your article “Research, Analysis, Communication: Meeting Standards with Technology” in the May 2000 issue of Learning & Leading with Technology. I was impressed with the article and more excited as I visited the Web site.

I work as a technology consultant for an intermediate agency serving 31 school districts in southwest Iowa. As part of my job, I will be training teachers this summer in the integration of technology into their classes.

I was able to view and print the sample lesson—Traveling the Santa Fe Trail—from the Web site and really liked the format. It looks simpler than the WebQuest format and would be a better starting point for teachers as they start to prepare Web-based lessons.

When I tried to view more of the lessons, I ran into the following problem: Selecting Pilot Databank or Global Databank—I needed to know a keyword that would be in the title; I was able to find one lesson by typing in the word “mathematics.”

Can you send me a list of the available lessons or some of the keywords that would allow me to find more lessons.

I plan to have the teachers that are in my classes this summer write lesson plans using this format.

Thanks,

Don Tischer

Dear Ms. Bowens:

Congratulations on a terrific article in Learning & Leading with Technology, May 2000 (“Research, Analysis, Communication: Meeting Standards with Technology” ) about the RAC Model™, a product that can truly help educators integrate technology into the curriculum. It is a well written and very informative article.
