In this thematic unit, students must
use their
research, statistical analysis, writing, small-group, and
presentation
skills to develop a mock pizza shop. Students learn survey
design,
data entry, and how design influences marketing
decisions.

Juli K. Dixon (dixonj1@nevada.edu),

specializes in mathematics education and technology.
Her research
interests include the application of technology in
mathematics
instruction. She is currently directing grants with
the purpose
of preparing pre- and inservice teachers and
university faculty
to effectively integrate technology into school
mathematics
as well as science and mathematics education
courses. She

Mary M. Ruetten (ruetten@nevada.edu),
is a full-time doctoral student in Curriculum and
Instruction
at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She works
with pre-
and inservice teachers to enhance and improve
mathematics
instruction. Mary has taught second through eighth
grades
as well as mathematics methods for elementary school
teachers
at UNLV. Her research interests include spatial
development
and the integration of technology into mathematics.
