About L&L

L&L's Summer Issue 2003

Welcome to the first of our newly revamped summer issues! We've added a number of features to facilitate a look back at the previous 8 print issues as well as a special Resources-of-the-year feature designed to make it easier than ever to sort and find some of the wonderful online resources our authors have suggested within their articles. Naturally, we still have our special summer features and articles too! Where applicable, we've provided articles in both PDF and HTML formats. The summer issue serves another special purpose—it provides an opportunity for staff members to try something new, accept new challenges, and have a little fun.

Meet the Summer staff

Jennifer Ames (Upper Left) has been an intern in the ISTE periodicals group for the past 18 months. The summer issue is where Jennifer takes the reins, assuming many of the responsibilities of a managing editor, from scheduling all the staff contributions, choosing art, to actually coding the HTML pages, Jennifer has put in long hours and done a wonderful job bringing this issue into being.

A journalism student at the University of Oregon, Jennifer is a senior who plans to go into the advertising and public relations side of journalism upon graduation.

Beth Scandalios, (Upper Right) ISTE's associate designer, is the lead designer for L&L online. In addition to designing art and special graphics for the summer issue, Beth does a large part of the layout and creation of the PDF articles, all while working on the upcoming print versions of the magazine.
Jen Roland, (Bottom Left) is a senior editor for L&L and a regular writer for both the paper and online versions of the magazine, including the Hot Topics for NECC feature in this issue. Kate Conley, (right) is editor for L&L, ISTE's periodical group manager, and author of the Resources of the Year article.
