Wright Line's LCD Lift is a monitor accommodation for LCD screens and monitors. According to the manufacturer, when installed in the desk surface, the user can pull a release trigger and the screen will lift. The apparatus is compatible with most 15-19-inch LCD flat screens. The SuperView Video-on-Demand Server is a network-attached server with a gigabit Ethernet interface that records, stores, and streams VHS/DVD videos and television shows from cable, satellite, or local broadcast stations. The server works with Macs and PCs or any computer that has Microsoft Media Player and a Web browser. It broadcasts full-motion, full-screen media over your school's network. The iGPS-360 Global Positioning System Receiver by Pharos is an adapter that can be plugged into mobile devices such as a PDA, laptop, or tablet PC. The device plugs in via serial, USB, CompactFlash, PCMCIA, or Bluetooth ports and, according to the manufacturer, enables location finding and navigation anywhere. The device tracks 12 GPS satellites to improve tracking performance. Price depends on configuration.

Software
Jasc Software has introduced a software collection for digital photography. The Paint Shop Power Suite-Photo Edition includes Paint Shop Pro 8, Paint Shop Photo Album 4, and Paint Shop Xtras Creative Edition 1 and 2. According to the developer, users can edit, enhance, organize, repair, archive, and share their digital images. The complete suite price is $119. Upgrade pricing is available on the company's Web site.

According to the developer, InkSaver 2.0 saves money when you print. The manufacturer says that customers can use this software to reduce the amount of ink their printer uses to print documents. Users can choose the amount of ink they want to use on each print job by adjusting a slider bar. The company says the software works with all printer brands and maintains document quality while lowering ink usage. The cost is $34.99 for a new purchase or $14.99 for an upgrade.

According to the developer, SlideShow Desktop is an easy way to create slide shows from your digital camera or stored images. Users can specify the interval between slide changes and modify the photo's filename, orientation, and display size during playback. The software also includes features for managing desktop wallpaper and e-mailing and printing photos. A free 14-day evaluation version is available for download. A single user license is $19.95.

The following three pieces were developed by Tom O'Brien for the Palm OS and are distributed by Handmark. Find It! presents three visual/logic arenas for ages 5 through adult. Each challenge has 12 levels of difficulty. Mystery Three presents three number/logic arenas for ages 8 through adult, each with several levels of difficulty. Treasure Hunt presents three visual/logic arenas for ages 5 through adult. Users search for hidden jewels following simple rules but the thinking involved can get more complex. Each program is available for download and costs $9.99.

For use with Vernier LabPro and more than 40 Vernier sensors, Logger Pro enables you to collect, graph, analyze, and print your data as well as import data from a Texas Instruments, Palm, or Visor handheld. Version 3.2 offers video analysis tools, strip chart mode, and improved heart rate calculations. The video analysis tools allow you to extract quantitative data from inserted video clips that the software has synchronized with existing sensor data. The cost is $99.

Maddux, provides an overview of the trends and issues related to the integration of computers and technology in the school curriculum since the 1970s. Understanding Models in Earth and Space Science: The result of a joint venture of the National Science Teachers Association and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics, the book is written by Steven Gilbert and Shirley Ireton. It explores how modeling can assist science teachers in presenting complex concepts, developing student awareness, and engaging students. The book covers many types of models, including conceptual models, concrete models, and computer technology models. The cost is $19.96 for NSTA members and $24.95 for nonmembers.

Gale Schools has presented The Grant Goldmine to help K-12 educators and administrators develop fundraising strategies. The resource uses proprietary data from Gale's imprint, The Taft Group, to offer grant writing tips, links to available grants and federal funds, and tips from fundraising professionals. In addition to links about other grant resources, the Web site also features opportunities from Gale Schools.

Raptors in the City is a real-time, inquiry-based science and technology program for Grades 4-6. The program features the rare Peregrine falcon. The online portion of the program guides students through the nesting season. On the Web site, they can watch the falcons live via cameras mounted on skyscrapers. The curriculum supports one semester of study. Students learn about the environment, biology, and technology. For more information, see the Web site.

Newseum, the interactive museum of news in Washington, D.C., unveiled a new interactive experience on its Web site. President Kennedy Has Been Shot is the online companion to the book of the same title. The interactive presentation traces the events of November 22-25, 1963, through photographs, video, and audio. The story is told from the perspective of the media professionals who covered the events.
