Kara Gann — School District Administration Representative

Kara Gann has been the information technology program administrator for Laramie County School District (LCSD) #1 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, USA, since 2003.While in this position, she has worked to incorporate the NETS and interactive whiteboards into every classroom and instructional content area. She recently contributed to the ISTE white paper “Coaching, Technology, and Community: Power Partners in Professional Development.” She also collaborated with ISTE to develop the Technology Literacy Needs Assessment (TLNA) for her district. The assessment, which is administered yearly to certified school district employees and professional development, was designed to increase staff’s technology usage and comfort levels. Kara has also played an active role in designing the "21st Century Classroom" for LCSD #1.
Kara began her teaching career in Odessa, Texas, USA, and was a teacher and instructional technologist in Mansfield, Texas, prior to moving to Wyoming. She has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in educational administration. She holds teaching certifications for K–8 and Administrative Credentials for K–12 leadership. She is certified in International Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) V3 Training and Foundation. She has completed McREL’s School Leadership That Works and Classroom Instruction That Works with Technology, McGrath SUCCEED With Supervision: Evaluation, & Leadership program, the Cognitive Coaching Foundation Seminar, DDI’s Interaction Management Essentials program, and Facilitative Leadership for School Administrators.
Kara is the secretary on the Executive Committee of ISTE's Board of Directors as well as a member of ISTE’s Policy and Procedures Committee. She has served ISTE members working with national officials on educational policy. She was a member of the NECC/ISTE review teams in 2008, 2009, and 2011 and was the workshop chairman for ISTE 2010 in Denver, Colorado, USA. She is a member of the Wyoming State Task Force for Instructional Coaches and has been a presenter at local, state, and national conferences.
