Randy Hansen
Dr. Randy Hansen is an educator with 20 years experience teaching and leading educational initiatives. He began his career in 1996 teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages to Kindergarten through 6th grade. Dr. Hansen’s previous experience includes a district technology coordinator, faculty of the Maryland Technology Academy, PT3 grant manager at Johns Hopkins University, Discovery Education, initiating Discovery’s ISTE Seal Of Alignment project and collaborations with teacher preparation programs integration of digital media within methods courses. In 2007, Dr. Hansen returned to higher education as assistant professor and program director at National Louis University in Chicago, IL.

Currently, Randy is a collegiate professor and Program Chair at the University of Maryland University College where he leads two masters programs; the MS in Learning Design & Technology is developing the next generation of Learning Designers to create personalized online learning experiences, and the MEd in Instructional Technology – an ISTE Nationally Recognized Instructional Technology program. In 2015 Dr. Hansen was selected by the Center for Digital Education’s as a Top 30 Technologists, Transformers and Trailblazers. In 2016, the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) awarded him a 2016 Making IT Happen award.

Randy resides in Columbia, Maryland with his wife Shannon, a nurse and doctoral student at University of Maryland Baltimore, son Anderson and daughter Cheryl.
