The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE®) reveals a new brand for the association that reflects a laser focus on empowering connected learners in a connected world.
New Vision, Mission and Logo Revealed at ISTE 2013 Opening Session
SAN ANTONIO – June 23, 2013 – Today at the opening general session of the International Society for Technology in Education’s (ISTE®) 2013 annual conference and expo, CEO Brian Lewis and President Kecia Ray revealed a new brand for the association that reflects a laser focus on empowering connected learners in a connected world. A compelling multimedia presentation gave ISTE 2013 attendees a first look at the association’s new vision, mission, logo and tagline.
“The implications of a redefined ISTE brand are going to be seen and felt in the years ahead as we seek to fulfill our vision and mission,” said CEO Lewis. “We know very clearly now that ISTE is an organization serving the entire educational enterprise, which is truly critical. Moving forward, we will have an increased focus on infusing the ISTE standards into all that we do. We have a lot of important work ahead of us.”
ISTE’s new vision is: The vision of ISTE is a world where all learners thrive, achieve and contribute.
ISTE’s new mission is: As the creator and steward of the definitive education technology standards, ISTE’s mission is to empower learners to flourish in a connected world by cultivating a passionate professional learning community, linking educators and partners, leveraging knowledge and expertise, advocating for strategic policies, and continually improving learning and teaching.
ISTE leadership dedicated the last 12 months to this high-level brand positioning work, beginning with a board and staff retreat in September 2012. In January 2013, a branding task force reflected on ISTE’s past, current and future position and influence in the field. The task force was comprised of a group of thought leaders from within ISTE as well as an impressive group of nonprofit, corporate and policy leaders from around the world. After careful examination of what ISTE does and who it serves, the ISTE Board unanimously adopted new vision and mission statements in March.
T-shirts featuring ISTE’s new logo were launched into the audience, and all attendees received a luggage tag with the new image. In the weeks and months to come, members can look forward to a new website, recreated magazine, programs, communications, and product and service lines aligned with the updated brand positioning.
