Internet Explorer—Stuck Privacy Settings can Disable Cookies

The Privacy setting in Internet Explorer can get stuck at "High" instead of the default "Medium."

This is a common problem with IE. To remedy the situation, do the following:

  1. Delete your cookies:
    IE > Tools > Internet Options > Delete Cookies button
  2. Change your Privacy setting:
    IE > Tools > Internet Options > Privacy tab > Default button
    Apply button
    OK button
  3. Go back to the page that required cookies

If this does not work, change the settings (using steps 1–2), restart your computer, and then proceed to the page that required cookies.
