Making It Happen

Making IT Happen is an internationally recognized awards program for educators in the field of educational technology integration in K–12 schools. The program identifies and rewards educational technology leaders around the world for their commitment and innovation.

Congratulations to these outstanding Ed Tech Leaders, awarded jackets in June 2008 at NECC in San Antonio, Texas!

Arlene Borthwick is the department Chair and Associate Professor at the National College of Education at National-Louis University in Chicago, past president of ISTE’s Special Interest Group for Teacher Educators and recently co-authored  a new ISTE book title Transforming Classroom Practice:  Professional Development Strategies.

Gordon Dahlby has over 20 years of experience as a director of curriculum and technology for West Des Moines Community School Districtand in his 33rd year of teaching.  He was recently elected to the ISTE Board of Directors as the At-Large Representative.

Tim Magner is the Director of the US Department of Education’s Office of Educational Technology where he is responsible for the coordination and development of and implementation of the department’s educational technology policies.  He also worked for Microsoft as its director of K–12 education and taught graduate level classes on educational technology at George Mason University.

Mila Fuller recently served at the Director of Strategic Initiatives for ISTE in Washington D.C. and is now the Deputy Executive Director of the National Council of Teachers of English.  She also serves as an adjunct professor of education at the University of Maryland and is the past president of ISTE’s affiliate MICCA.

Kevin Jarrett in real life and KJ Hax in Second Life, is in his fifth year of teaching in the K–4 Computer Lab at Northfield Community School in New Jersey He also teaches part-time for Walden University specializing in integrating technology into the classroom.  He has helped organize ISTE’s Second Life Docent program, part of a team of volunteers in the Second Life Playground at NECC, is currently helping manage the ISTE Second Life Speaker Series, in-world presentations by educators on a range of topics.
