Outstanding Leader Award

This award recognizes and honors one leader who is not a PK–12 teacher but has demonstrated outstanding achievement and leadership in implementing technology to improve education. Candidates for the awards are nominated by ISTE affiliates, a network of nearly 80 professional associations representing more than 100,000 educators worldwide. Nominations are reviewed by a team of education and technology professionals from around the world. If you are interested in participating and do not currently represent an ISTE affiliate, please locate the appropriate representative in your region from the list of ISTE affiliates and contact that individual to discuss your interest in participating in this important recognition opportunity.

The educator selected to receive this award will:
  • Be recognized at ISTE's annual conference and exposition
  • Receive $1,000 travel stipend to attend ISTE 2012 and a plaque recognizing the recipient's outstanding achievement
  • Receive a one-year ISTE standard membership
  • Receive a complimentary ISTE 2012 conference registration
  • Be featured in ISTE publications and in press releases provided to local media and on the website

What Monica's colleague says:

"Monica's work at the state, national, and international levels has made a significant difference in the educational opportunities students are offered through technology in their schools. Monica was an early advocate for the ISTE NETS. She promoted changes in state and national standards for the instructional use of technology to mirror the ISTE standards. Her strong beliefs about the role technology can play in supporting student achievement have translated into changed educational practices."
