Eligibility

Affiliate membership is open to any non-profit, professional, membership organization that is committed to the same or similar goals as ISTE and has well-established methods of communicating with its own members. Affiliates are autonomous organizations and are not be bound by geography.

 ISTE and the Affiliate organization will work together to achieve the following purposes:

  • Provide an international organization that supports the use of technology in education
  • Promote and encourage the appropriate use of information technologies to improve the quality of education.
  • Support professionals using technology in education including teachers, technology coordinators, curriculum coordinators, teacher educators, administrators, information resource managers, educational technology specialists, educational researchers, and others.
  • Cooperate with manufacturers, publishers, and other private sector organizations to identify technological needs and establish appropriate standards for hardware, software, and other technology-related educational systems, products, and services.
  • Encourage research and evaluation relating to the effective use of technology in education and to promote the dissemination of such research to practitioners.
  • Provide information to educational policy makers.
  • Promote the sharing of information and communication between professionals using information (and/or instructional) technologies in all areas and levels of education from the local to the international level.
  • Facilitate the achievement of all of the above by conducting activities including, but not limited to: ISTE's Annual Conference & Exposition, as well as other conferences, workshops, seminars, the preparation of publications, and the development of other materials useful to the membership and the educational technology field.

To Apply

Submit the following information in a Word or PDF document:

  • Completed Application
  • Letter of Intent to Apply
    • Provides history, structure, mission, and goals of the organization.
    • Outlines the methods the organization uses to communicate with its members.
    • Shares expectations of what the organization hopes to accomplish by being an ISTE Affiliate.
  • Copy of membership brochure or website links for information that is used to prospect new members; should include eligibility for membership and membership categories and prices.
  • Copy of current, official Bylaws or Constitution.
  • Evidence of organization's non-profit status (501(c)(3) in USA; or appropriate verification in other countries .
  • Copy of primary publication produced by organization for distribution to individual members.
  • Copy of conference or professional development promotional collateral or list of current or recent professional development offerings.
