The Verizon Mobile Learning Academy (VMLA) is a free, 10-week virtual professional development experience designed to help teams, schools or districts implement or improve their mobile learning strategy.
Delivered by ISTE, in partnership with The Verizon Foundation, VMLA supports various approaches to mobile learning such as 1:1 and BYOD.
Proven, practical and grounded in the ISTE Standards, VMLA prepares teams to supercharge mobile initiatives by discovering how to design creative learning experiences, identify effective management strategies, gauge student readiness, and teach safe online practices.
Participants benefit from:
— Connection to other teams and VMLA alumni in a private Google Plus community.
— Access to experienced ISTE Faculty and instructional coaches who will facilitate the online course.
— 2.5 Continuing Education Units from Johns Hopkins University.
— Earning a digital badge to showcase their skills.

Start getting your team organized today.
1: Assemble your team.
Include one school administrator, one tech coach or equivalent, and three to eight teachers.
2: Document your mobile learning initiative.
Include the title, mobile program type and description, start date, and mobile devices used.
3: Describe your student population.
Include the total number of students in your district and school, the total number of students taught by school team applicants, and the percentage of students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
