Meet the team of ISTE Standard experts who review each submission before awarding the Seal of Alignment to a product or service.
After 25 years as an educator, Dennis O’Connor now develops online professional development for technology integration with a focus on instructional design, online learning and teaching, writing instruction, and information fluency. He also serves as the E-Learning Graduate Certificate advisor for the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
Paula Don has been involved in education for over 30 years and currently serves as the director for educational technology for the School District of Philadelphia, where she is responsible for developing professional learning, online learning strategies and curriculum design.
David Barr worked as a teacher and administrator for 25 years before retiring from his post as director of online learning at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy. He now works as an independent consultant. He has been a member of the writing and leadership teams that developed ISTE’s National Educational Technology Standards since 1998 and currently serves as an ISTE Standards expert and Seal of Alignment lead reviewer.
Carol Teitelman is the coordinator of distance learning for ESC Region XIII in Austin, Texas. She has expertise in distance learning, videoconferencing, elementary education, special education, computer application education, administration, 21st century skills and literacy, and professional development.
As a previous elementary and middle school teacher, Chris O’Neal went on to become a district technology coordinator and a state director of educational technology. He currently serves as a manager of instructional design at the University of Virginia and as a consultant for ISTE and other state, national and international organizations.
Chris Peters recently retired from his post as the director of the South Carolina Center of Excellence for Instructional Technology Training at Clemson University, where he taught instructional technology classes for 28 years. He has served as an Apple Consulting Educator and currently serves as an Adobe Education Leader. He is an ISTE Standards expert and Seal of Alignment lead reviewer.
Rowland Baker has been an educator for more than 30 years in both public and private schools. He is currently the executive director of the Technology Information Center for Administrative Leadership (TICAL) and serves on several state and national committees focused on technology and education.
Walter Kimball is a professor of special education at the University of Southern Maine in the School of Education and Human Development. He offered his first online course in 1999 and has been teaching primarily online since 2005.
Kay Lehmann is an online adjunct professor in teacher professional development at the University of Wisconsin-Stout and California State East Bay. She uses the ISTE Standards extensively in her work and serves as an ISTE Standards expert as well as a Seal of Alignment lead reviewer.
After working as a K-6 dual immersion educator for six years, Carmen Rivas has been researching educational technology in elementary education, research and second language acquisition at the University of Oregon.
Joe Kmoch has developed and taught the Teaching Methods in Computer Science course at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for the past two decades and has served as an instructional technology coach in many Milwaukee schools. He is a past-president and the current communications officer of ISTE’s Computing Teachers Network.
Joy Voss is the interim director of field experiences in the Department of Educational Studies at St. Louis University in Missouri. She has extensive experience with learning disabilities, orthopedically handicapped, behavior disorder, early childhood special education and early childhood education. She regularly consults for ISTE on curriculum alignment with the ISTE Standards.
A former public school teacher and professional developer, Robert Cole is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Studies at the University of Saint Louis. He has conducted extensive research on the authentic integration of technology into curriculum and the implementation of the ISTE Standards.
Former educator Kristin Ciesemier serves as the coordinator for curriculum and academic effectiveness at Joliet Junior College.
