Randy Hansen
Randy Hansen, Ed.D., is an educator with more than two decades of experience teaching and leading educational initiatives. He began his career in 1996, teaching English for speakers of other languages to K-6 students. His previous experience includes roles as a district technology coordinator, faculty of the Maryland Technology Academy and PT3 grant manager at Johns Hopkins University. While at Discovery Education, he initiated Discovery’s ISTE Seal Of Alignment project as well as collaborations with teacher preparation programs related to integrating digital media into methods courses. In 2007, Randy returned to higher education as assistant professor and program director at National Louis University in Chicago.

Currently, Randy is a college professor and program chair at the University of Maryland University College where he leads two master’s programs: the master’s in learning design and technology, and the master’s of education in instructional technology – an ISTE nationally recognized instructional technology program.

In 2015, Randy was named to the Center for Digital Education’s list of Top 30 Technologists, Transformers and Trailblazers. In 2016, he was awarded ISTE’s Making IT Happen award.

Randy lives in Columbia, Maryland, with his wife, Shannon, a nurse and doctoral student at University of Maryland Baltimore; son, Anderson and daughter, Cheryl.
