Definitions
Adoption of the ISTE Standards
The state board of education, state legislature or state education agency formally adopts the ISTE Standards as the state’s educational technology standards. Another state-level agency may incorporate the ISTE Standards into their policy documents.
Adaptation of the ISTE Standards
The state borrows elements of the ISTE Standards and incorporates them into their own set of educational technology standards or competencies.
Endorsement of the ISTE Standards
The state encourages districts’ use of the ISTE Standards.
ISTE Certification in the United States
