The drumbeat continues in Washington, D.C., as Congress works to update the nation's major K-12 law, and ISTE members are raising our voices requesting a dedicated education technology program in the next version of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), formerly referred to as the No Child Left Behind Act. 

We are thrilled to share that two prominent senators are championing digital learning legislation. Sens. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisconsin) and Patty Murray (D-Washington), have introduced the Enhancing Education Through Technology Act of 2015 (EETT15) that would help states, districts and schools offer professional learning opportunities and acquire digital tools and content. This important policy initiative would:

• Provide teachers, principals and district administrators with the professional learning and support to increase college-and-career readiness, close achievement gaps and engage all students.
  
• Help school districts acquire digital tools and content designed to meet their local needs.
  
• Empower educators and parents to make decisions based on data, protect student privacy and ensure data security.
