We have done this at our school also. We have embedded STEM into all classes, even Music. At Christmas, 1st graders learned about "sound is vibration" NGSS. They then engineered instruments and played them in the musical. For the spring musical, 4th graders are learning about rocks and landforms. They have written parodies of famous songs. Let's see if you can guess the original songs: "Let it Flow", "It's a Hard Rock Life", "We Will Rock You", "I Want to Ride the Rock Cycle", and "What Does the Rock Say?". Our 3rd graders are now in the process of putting the lyrics on PowerPoint for projection during the musical. I hear the kids singing the new lyrics all the time in the hallways.
