What's new at ISTE 2017

By Elizabeth Glau 5/13/2017 ISTE Conference & Expo

Just as technology is constantly evolving, so is the ISTE Conference & Expo. Read on for a rundown of exciting changes coming to the ISTE Conference & Expo.

Morning meet-ups
Start your day in the Member Lounge where you can get highlights of the day and talk to other attendees about what sessions they’re excited about. 7:45-8:15 a.m., Monday-Wednesday.

Wellness Lounge
Indulge in self-care while you reflect on your ISTE 2017 experiences. Located in the West Lobby, stop by this lounge to recalibrate and watch a series of videos that include wellness tips and yoga practice.

Expanded Start-Up Pavilion
More edtech start-ups than ever before will have spots at the Start-Up Pavilion. Stop by to see what these 42 innovative companies have invented for the edtech ecosystem.

Edtech Insight sessions
Edtech thought leaders, including bloggers and representatives from edtech start-ups and established companies, will be on hand for three new Edtech Insight sessions. The sessions will take place on stage at the Pitch Fest Pavilion and will cover trends in edtech, making the leap from educator to entrepreneur, and tips and tools to help teachers make their days more productive.

New game
And because educators are excited about augmented reality (AR) and its potential classroom uses, this year’s conference game is an AR game that uses Aurasma. Play along to get a sense of what AR is like.

Member kiosk
Conference attendees automatically become ISTE members. Learn about ISTE benefits and meet other members and ISTE staff at this kiosk located in the Member Lounge.

More tours
Past attendees tell us they loved the orientation tours, so we’ve added more this year. Get a quick understanding of how the convention center is laid out and discover tips and shortcuts on how to get around. Orientation tours start in the Member Lounge.

Refreshed EdTekTalks
Students and educators will be the stars of the revamped EdTekTalks, a series of mini-keynotes. A student iPad band will kick off the event, followed by a presentation from a musician who has developed an innovative curriculum. Three educators will then take their turns delivering short keynotes.

Improved mobile app
Add outside events like coffee dates, lunches and meet-ups to your schedule of sessions and official events using the new calendar view feature. You can still use My Favorites to select sessions, and they’ll appear along with social events in the calendar.
