ISTE fact sheet
The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE®) is the premier membership association for educators and education leaders engaged in advancing learning and teaching through innovative and effective uses of technology in PK-12 and teacher education. Founded in 1979, ISTE has become the trusted source for professional development, knowledge generation, advocacy, and leadership for innovation. Home to the NETS—a comprehensive framework for digital age learning, teaching and school leadership—and ISTE’s conference and expo, the Society supports its members with information, networking opportunities, and guidance as they face the challenge of transforming education.

ISTE members include individuals (teachers, library media specialists, technology coordinators, teacher educators, administrators, and other decision makers), regional and international affiliate organizations, and corporations. With its network of national and international affiliates, ISTE represents more than 100,000 leaders and emerging leaders throughout the world.

For more than three decades, ISTE’s conference and expo (formerly known as NECC) has been the premier forum in which to learn, exchange, and survey the field of educational technology. This event attracts upwards of 18,000 attendees—including teachers, technology coordinators, administrators, library media specialists, teacher educators, and policy makers – and offers world class keynotes, hundreds of sessions in a variety of formats, and a massive exhibit hall.

ISTE’s NETS deliver a roadmap for global, digital age learning, teaching, and education leadership.  Recently refreshed, the NETS are used in most U.S. states and many countries.
