When does my membership expire?

You membership expiration date appears in your account to the right of your profile picture.

Can I use a purchase order to renew or purchase an ISTE membership, or on the ISTE online store?

ISTE accepts purchase orders as payment for our US and Canadian customers only. If you are a US or Canadian customer, you can select purchase order as a payment option in the shopping cart, which will provide you a field to enter the purchase order number and a tool to locate and upload a digital version of the purchase order from your computer. We will invoice your school or business and the order will be fulfilled.

If you used a purchase order as your payment method, please be aware that your order will not be automatically processed and there will be up to a 48 hour delay in the activation of member benefits, online course access, book shipments or other ISTE services. You will receive a confirmation email once your order has been processed and you can access your materials.

International customers can pay online with a credit card (except for Singapore where PayPal won't accept payment). We also accept checks and wire transfers as payments from our international customers. Contact customer service for additional information on these payment options. 

Where do I find my member number?

Your member number is available in your account information.

Can my membership dues be refunded?

ISTE does not refund membership dues, but they are transferable. Contact ISTE customer support to discuss transferring your membership to another educator.

Does ISTE offer prorated memberships for partial years?

Unfortunately, ISTE is not able to offer prorated individual memberships. All individual memberships are for a full year.


How do I purchase a group membership?

All three tiers of group membership can be purchased on, using all payment methods regularly available on (credit card, PO, etc). If you have questions about a current or new group membership, you can fill out the form on our group membership page.

When will my group membership be active?

Once you have completed your purchase of a group membership on, we'll share an access code with the purchaser.

I have an active individual membership. What happens if I’m added to my school’s new group membership?

If your existing individual membership has three months remaining, your end date will be one year from the start of the group membership and you will lose those three months of membership. Individual and group memberships do not stack.

I have a premium membership. What happens if I’m added to my school’s new group membership?

Group memberships only come with basic memberships. If you are added to a group membership before your current premium membership expires, you will lose access to your premium membership benefits. Individual and group membership do not stack.


How do I set up or update my ISTE community profile?

Head directly to the community site at and sign in. Look for a “profile” link in the header bar on the right. Click that link to edit your community profile.

Please note, this is different than the ISTE Conference & Expo program profile for presenters.

How do I adjust my email preferences?

In almost all cases the most effective way to unsubscribe is directly from the footer of the email you received. At the bottom of the email, click "unsubscribe here," to view the manage preferences page. If you want to unsubscribe from all ISTE email, go to your membership account page and check "Do Not Send ISTE Email" under the Manage Preferences tab.

How do I adjust my notifications from the ISTE communities?

By default, you will receive a daily digest for each of the ISTE communities you belong to. This daily digest contains all of the discussion posts in that community from the previous day, making it easy to follow conversations and participate yourself. To change these preferences, go to “Community Notifications” in your community profile.

ISTE recommends the "Consolidated Daily Digest" which puts all of your community messages into one single email. To enable this option, check the box for each community you want included in the Consolidated Daily Digest, then select “No Email” for that community.


How do I connect with other ISTE members?

Connect with your peers in ISTE Connect, ISTE's online community. That’s where you can join ISTE Professional Learning Networks and engage with other members on topics you’re passionate about!

Where can I learn about or ask a question about a specific topic?

Join an ISTE Professional Learning Network. There are more than 20 networks based on specific topics or job roles with year-round PD, resources-sharing and discussion boards. Free to members.


Where can I find my member benefits?

All the benefits and resources included with your ISTE membership can be found on the ISTE Central page.

Where can I find free resources and learn about the latest edtech trends and issues?

Get practical guidance on how to effectively implement edtech into your classroom, school or district in the ISTE Blog . You’ll also find articles and videos on the latest edtech trends and issues.  ISTE Central  also has a wide range of resources that are free and exclusive to members.

Where do I find digital resources I’ve either purchased or received as part of my membership?

Your digital resources will be located on your Digital Library page, located in your profile. Follow the Digital Library link, and any resources you have purchased or received will be organized by type for you to view or download.

How do I receive the complimentary ebook that comes with my membership?

You can select your complimentary ebook by navigating to the ISTE Central and expanding the eBook Download box. Select which title you'd like and press the Download button. If you ever need to download the book again, the ebook will appear in your Digital Library.


How do I register for the conference?

Head to our conference page and click on the ‘Attend’ link in the top header bar - there you will find a link to register.

Why doesn’t ISTE offer a conference in my state?

The ISTE Conference & Expo is so large that many cities can’t accommodate the event. You can learn about other ISTE events on our  events page, though, and many of our affiliates host conferences throughout the year with similar program content. View the event calendar to see what’s coming up near you!

I want to attend the ISTE Conference, but can't afford it. Are there scholarships?

Scholarships are available only for the conference registration fee (and does not include travel, housing, meals, etc). Often, getting registration covered can help secure additional funding from your school. Information regarding 2020 scholarships will be available following the open of conference registration.
